  1. More than ever? Really? More than when we were fighting to gain our independence from the British Empire? More than when we were fighting two world wars? More than the dust bowl years of the 1930s? More than when George W. Bush was president?

I'm glad Lee Greenwood is making millions and millions off dollars of this song of his, but I'm sorry, I can think of lots of times in the history of our country when we could have used God's blessings more than we need them now. I'm not saying we couldn't use them now, but to say we need them now more than ever is a bit melodramatic. Don't you think?

  2. OK, maybe more than ever is a little melodramatic, how about as much as ever in my lifetime, or at least since the Carter presidency.
