There are a lot of reasons to respect and admire our military personnel. Their bravery, their sacrifice, and most of all, their discipline. Here is a case in point.
Here is the US Navy's Pacific Fleet commander, Admiral Robert Willard being questioned by Congressman Hank Johnson (D-GA.) During the questioning, Congressman Johnson expresses concern that Guam could become so overpopulated that it could possibly capsize.
Now it would be too easy to mock Congressman Johnson for that statement. I do not intend to do that. He is suffering from hepatitis, and the statement could be due to the effects of the disease or his medication. Though perhaps we should be concerned if the medication is impairing his ability to perform his duties.
I want to praise Admiral Willard for his discipline and demeanor. He does not show the least bit of shock after hearing the Congressman's concerns. He maintains a totally even keel. Now that is military discipline at its finest.
Oh my word, this is unbelievable! Not the Admiral's composure-- you were right about that-- he did so well.
