Blues Song of the Week-John Lee Hooker "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer"

I haven't done one of these in a while. I first heard this song when George Thorogood recorded it in 1977. John Lee Hooker recorded it before that, and I like his version a better because he uses a lot less distortion in his guitar playing.

  2. Same here... And I got to say, I wasn't familiar with the John Lee Hooker version. Only the George Thorogood version. I always liked the story that goes with the song. Good choice!

  3. Thanks, I have always liked the more traditional blues artists. One of the best concerts I ever saw was when Muddy Waters opened for Eric Clapton at the old Capital Center

  4. Oh, the Capital Center... You're really going back a long way. What a relic! (smile) That sounds like a great combination. Muddy Waters and Eric Clapton. I've seen Muddy at the Hollywood Bowl but I've never seen Clapton live. Did you follow Robert Cray when he was hot?

  5. Yes, I also saw Cray open for Clapton at the Cap Center. I had tickets in the front row off to the side of the stage. When Clapton was performing his encore, Cray came out and stood right in front of us on the floor, literally no more than 5 feet away. I yelled down to him, he turned around, I shook his hand and told him "great show"

  6. That's great. Lots of great memories from the Cap Cnter. Do you play an instrument? Or are you like me... Just a lover of good music?

  7. I used to play guitar a lot. I can still pickup and play a song or two, but there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything I want to do.
