Swine Flu Vaccine Part 2

I thought it was bad when I read that the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius announced that the US was going to donate 10% of the available swine flu vaccines to the World Health Organization to distribute to poorer countries before the demand in this country was satisfied.

Now our government has decided that the terrorists being held at Gitmo will receive vaccinations before many of our own citizens that are considered a high risk for contracting the disease.  According to the federal guidelines, the priority for getting vaccinated are pregnant women, health care workers, children and young adults.  In other words, woman and children first.

Congressman Roy Blunt (R-MO) has issued a press release that stated:
"President Obama called this pandemic a 'national emergency,' but the federal government continues to fail at one of its most basic responsibilities. And now the administration tells us 'no longer women and children first;' instead accused terrorists will be first in line for H1N1 vaccines"
Blunt also points out that in his home state of Missouri, the state Department of Health only has enough vaccine to meet 28% of the demand.  He is absolutely correct when he describes this situation as "Outrageous."

The idea that the government would allow the scum of the earth that are being held at Gitmo to receive the vaccine before our own vulnerable citizens, those that the government itself said should have priority, is scandalous.  All I can say is that if I was on a sinking ship, I would not want our government in charge of the evacuation.  It is plain that "women and children first" means nothing to them.
