I was shocked to see the headline that Bernie Mac had passed away at the relatively young age of 50 due to complications from pneumonia. I did not follow Mac's career closely, but I always enjoyed watching him. While I wasn't exposed to all his work, I had seen enough to know what kind of performer he was. That's is why I was so surprised at the outrage and controversy when Bernie Mac spoke at a Barack Obama rally. After all, if you are going to have a comedian of Bernie Mac's ilk speak at a rally, you are going to get, well, Bernie Mac. To think otherwise is to be naive or disingenuous.
Anyway, in tribute to Mac, here he is at his finest.
