Music Monday-Dire Straits "Money for Nothing"

I hate censorship of any kind.  I particularly hate it when the censorship is sponsored by the government in response to the ever growing pressure of political correctness.  Earlier this month, the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council ruled that the Dire Straits song "Money for Nothing," which has been a staple on classic rock stations for 25 years, was "offensive" because of the use of the word "faggot" in the song's lyrics.  The decision is under review, and may be overturned.  Needless to say, I had to make "Money for Nothing" my choice for Music Monday.  Hope you aren't offended.

  1. I find it highly offensive that I was never able to play a guitar good enough to get chicks for free. My efforts to bang on the bongos like a chimpanzee were equally unsuccessful.

P.S.: My wife just wanted everyone to know that she may be cheap, but she certainly didn't come for free.

  2. sorry to hear of your tough luck Fish. You are a funny guy. I never played well enough to get my chicks for free, but well enough to help get one here or there

  3. Not offended at all. Money For Nothing has been around far too long for anybody to ban it now.

Similarly, In Singapore, the song "Cocaine - Eric Clapton" was also banned. Even live performances were given guidelines on songs to "avoid".

They can ban whatever the want. While they are at it, why not ban the internet too :p

LOL @ FishHawk and Happy MM Dick!
